The CDN association’s approach to development through agriculture
April 25, 2025
While the majority of the poor live in rural areas and remain mainly employed in agriculture, this sector can play a key role in reducing poverty, increasing incomes and improving food security. The CDN association is one of the main actors in the development of agriculture in the province of Cibitoke. Achieving development goals requires healthy, sustainable and inclusive food systems. Agricultural development is one of the most powerful levers on which CDN will act to end extreme poverty, strengthen prosperity sharing and feed the citizens of Cibitoke province. Indeed, agricultural growth contributes proportionately more to economic development than growth in any other form because the multiplier effects of agricultural growth on the economy of Cibitoke province are greater. Agriculture is also a social, economic, ecological and health issue. Its good management and development make it possible to combat food and nutrition insecurity. The CDN association is working on the agricultural sector, at all scales, to promote inclusive and sustainable development and ensure food security for the population of the Cibitoke province. The food and nutrition security of the people of Cibitoke depends largely on how agricultural products are managed. This is why the CDN association is setting a good example by showing Cibitoke farmers what they need to do to improve their production management and strengthen economic sustainability. Consistent with the development objective, the CDN association works to strengthen the autonomy, sustainability and resilience of the agricultural sector in Cibitoke province. The CDN association will adopt an integrated strategy that combines the objectives of environmental preservation, agricultural economic development and territorial development in remote areas. In response to the invitation of the Governor of the Province of Cibitoke, each member of the diaspora from Cibitoke is called upon to participate actively in the development of his or her home town and thus of the entire province. Agriculture has another key asset. Agriculture initiated by the CDN association also plays a role in the development and maintenance of the territory of the Cibitoke province. Finally, agriculture contributes to development as an economic activity, as a means of subsistence and as a protector of the environment; it is therefore a unique instrument of major importance in the country’s development.
